The Los Angeles Angels continued to make a practice of losing games in extra innings, with an 8-6 defeat in 10 by the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday night in Anaheim.

Not only did were Halos once again were unable to hold a lead, the third loss in a row dropped them into a tie with the Athletics (52-81) for fourth place – or last place, depending on your viewpoint – in the American League West.

Home runs by Vaughn Grissom and Christian Moore gave the Halos an early 3-0 lead after two innings. The Guardians got three runs to tie it, but the Angels regained the lead at 5-4.

The score was 6-6 in the 10th when Steven Kwan – who went 5-for-5 with five singles and a walk – and Bryan Rocchio scored on a double by Jose Ramirez, who had five RBIs.

Mike Trout was 2-for-4 with one walk and a run scored, Grissom, who hit two home runs, was 2-for-5 with three RBIs. Starter Walbert Urena (8-9) lasted 3.2 innings, giving up five hits and three runs. He struck out three batters but walked five.

It was the Orange County team’s third straight loss.

The two teams will play again on Wednesday. They Angels will have Thursday off and begin a series in Philadelphia against the Phillies.

Dodgers fall to Braves, 4-3

Ozzie Albies’ single to center field brought in Matt Olson with what proved to be the winning run in the eighth inning as the Atlanta Braves defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-3 on Tuesday night.

The Braves built an early 3-0 lead, but the Blue Crew clawed back to tie the game up at 3-all by the third inning.

Alex Call and Hunter Feduccia each had two hits for the Dodgers.

Starter Tyler Glasnow lasted five innings for LAD., giving up six hits and three earned runs. He struck out seven batters and walked none.

With the loss, the Dodgers are 80-52 and lead the National League West by 9.5 games.
