Sunset Beach fire snuffed out

STREET SCENE in Sunset Beach (HBFD photo).

House fires are especially terrifying at night, so be prepared.

On Saturday night Huntington Beach Fire Department crews responded to a residential structure fire in the 16000 block of 16th Street in Sunset Beach.

Arriving firefighters were able to contain and extinguish the fire. That was followed by operations to make sure the blaze was fully put out.

Significant fire and smoke damage was caused by the blaze. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The HBFD reminds residents to have a family fire escape plan and make certain that everyone in the home knows what to do in case of a fire, especially at night.

Families should practice the escape regularly, identify two ways out when possible, and set a safe meeting place outside the home.
