End of an Error Dept: The Angels may have added a bit to their Hall of Horrors with their record 100th defeat, but I don’t think many Halo fans are holding a lodge of sorrow.

Most of them, I believe, are looking forward to whatever magic Stan Kroenke can summon up, what with his devotion to winning and very deep pockets.

However, we have to bear in mind that a winning team – like Rome – was not built in a day, or a single season. The 2027 Angels will almost certainly be better than the 2026 disgrace, but realistically a break-even season (81-81) might be too much to ask for.  Heck, that was good enough to get the Astros the AL West pennant.

But if the Orange County team doesn’t rise to contention by 2028, well, I will want my money back.

Missed It by That Much Dept.: The Rams’ 30-26 loss to the Broncos was disappointing but not surprising. They were playing in Denver, breathing that thin mile-high air, deafened by the fans’ yelling and playing without two of their best – Myles Garrett and Puka Nacua.

Even so, they could have overcome all that except for three plays. Davante Adams – who otherwise caught seven passes for 137 yards – dropped a wide-open pass in the late going. What appeared to be an intercepted pass by the Rams was waved off by the officials. And, of course, the 66-yard interception return for a touchdown by Talanoa Hufanga.

You could also argue that the Rams sort of took their foot off the gas in the second period, settling for three field goals. But no matter. The Rams lost on the road to a good team, and somebody had to win.

There will be better Sundays ahead.
