Voters in the Westminster School District will be deciding this fall on Measure B, a proposed $128 million local bond issue to fund repairs, upgrades and safety improvements in local schools.

The WSD is a K-8 district with an enrollment of around 7,600 students that serves most of Westminster and Midway City as well as parts of Garden Grove, Huntington Beach and Fountain Valley.

According to its supporters, Measure B – on the Nov. 3 general election ballot – would provide funds to upgrade classrooms and repair and/or replace aging infrastructure such as roofs, plumbing and utilities.

Other benefits would include the updating of outdated facilities and improved safety and security.

The effect on annual property taxes is $30 per $100,000 of assessed value. At least 55 percent of WSD voters must approve for the bonds to pass.

In 2016, WSD voters gave their approval to $76 million for improvements in school facilities.
