A final decision on the proposed 17 percent pay increase for police department management will come at the Oct. 20 meeting of the Huntington Beach City Council.

On Tuesday night the council voted 7-0 to “receive and file” a staff report on the proposed agreement with the Huntington Beach Police Management Association with the understanding that it will return at the next council meeting.

The three-year contract would be retroactive to July 1 and award an 8 percent salary increase for the first year and on July 1, 2027 a 4 percent increase and on July1, 2028 an increase of 5 percent.

The agreement is similar to those given to the Huntington Beach Police Association recently. The total projected cost is about $971,461. For the fiscal year of 2026-27, it would be $406,620.
If approved, an appropriation of $275, 000 would be required to begin implementation.
