MARCO, a K-9 “officer,” has been credited with the arrest of a burglary suspect in Huntington Beach Saturday evening (HBPD photo).
A police dog is being credited with an assist in the arrest of a suspect sought for burglary in Huntington Beach. According to the HBPD, officers received a call about a burglary in progress in the 4000 block of Stellrecht Circle around 6:05 p.m.
Spotting a man in his neighbor’s back yard, a citizen tried to speak to him, but the suspect refused. Arriving police discovered a forced entry and the suspect ran out of the back of the home and jumped fences into the adjacent yards. Police found that the home had been ransacked and vandalized.
Officers set up a perimeter with the help of HB-1, the department’s helicopter. Police dog Marco located the suspect hiding in the pool house of a neighboring property and “took him into custody,” according to police.
The suspect has been indentified as Chase Kane, 21, of Huntington Beach. He was booked into Huntington Beach Jail on a burglary charge.
