AN INVESTIGATION into the shooting death of a woman in Garden Grove late Wednesday night is continuing.

UPDATE: The victim in a fatal shooting in Garden Grove has been indentified by police as Kellie Louise Nichol, 31, of Trabuco Canyon.

The investigation continues into the shooting death of a woman in Garden Grove late Wednesday night. The woman, described as a 31-year-old woman whose last known address was in San Clemente, was found shot on the lawn of a home in the 13500 block of Purdy Street around 11:17 p.m., according to police.

Arriving officers and paramedics from the Orange County Fire Authority performed life-saving efforts on the victim, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say that the incident may have stemmed from a fight between two women on the front lawn of the home, which was being rented to multiple tenants. A man is said to have intervened in the dispute and shot one of the women.

A suspect, described as a male Hispanic 25 to 30 years of age with a medium build, fled the scene. Anyone with more information on the incident is asked to call the GGPD at (714) 741-5704.
