A WOMAN died Thursday afternoon in Garden Grove after her car crashed into a power pole.

UPDATE: The woman killed in the accident Thursday has been identified by the Orange County Coroner as Judy Merchant of Garden Grove.

A 63-year-old woman died after the car she was driving crashed into a utility pole in Garden Grove Thursday afternoon. According to police, the incident occurred around 2:37 p.m. on Dale Street north of Chapman Avenue.

Investigation showed that the right side mirror of the woman’s vehicle struck a parked auto on the east curb line of Dale and her car then continued north until it struck the Edison pole. She was the only person in her vehicle.

She was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange where she was later pronounced dead. Her name and city of residence was not immediately available.
