UPDATE: While the investigation is continuing, the GGPD is now questioning whether the incident described below happened. In a press release issued this afternoon, police said that the case “appears to be unfounded due to victim inaccuracies.”

A silver pocket knife was the weapon used in a strong-arm robbery Monday morning in Garden Grove. According to Lt. Tom DaRe of the GGPD, the incident took place at a business in the 9700 block of Katella Avenue at around 9:47 a.m.

A woman told police she was robbed of her purse by two men. She was waiting outside the business for a job interview when she was approached by the two pair, one of whom brandished the knife and demanded her purse.

She refused and began screaming, so the men then forced her to the rear of the building where the grabbed her purse and fled on foot. The victim was not injured.

The suspects were described as male Hispanics, one of them 35 to 40 years old, and the other 40 years old with a bald head.
