Edison 2nd in CIF, 1st on High 5

Nine teams from local high schools got some recognition in the CIF-SS polls and rankings released on Monday.

Football: Edison (7-1) is ranked second in Division 3. Garden Grove (6-2) is ranked ninth in Division 8. Ocean View (4-4) was not ranked, but received some votes in the Division 13 poll.

Boys’ water polo: Huntington Beach is ranked second in the Division 1 poll. Ocean View is second in Division 6. Unranked but receiving some votes in the D-6 poll were Los Amigos and Pacifica.

high-five-week-10-24-2016Girls’ cross country: Fountain Valley is 10th in Division 1 and Bolsa Grande is 13th in Division 3.

Girls’ tennis: Fountain Valley was not ranked in the D-1 poll, but did get some votes.

EDISON remains atop the OC Tribune’s High 5 this week for high school football teams serving the Garden Grove-Huntington Beach-Westminster area.

The Chargers are 7-1 overall and will face long-time rival Fountain Valley (1-7) this Friday at Orange Coast College. Following EHS are the surprising La Quinta Aztecs (7-1), then Pacifica (4-4), Garden Grove (6-2) and Orange (5-3).

On the bubble is Huntington Beach at 4-4.
