A five-goal second period lifted the Anaheim Ducks to a 6-1 win over the Nashville Predators Wednesday night at Honda Center. The win kept the team’s home record perfect and evening its record at 3-3-2, good for a third-place tie in the NHL Pacific Division.
Jakob Silfverberg scored twice to lead the Ducks. Other goals were tallied by Nick Ritchie, Corey Perry, Andrew Cogliano and Ryan Kesler. In goal, Josh Gibson had 28 saves in a winning cause.
“We don’t really refer to last year,” said Ducks coach Randy Carlyle, responding to the Ducks’ elimination in the playoffs last year by the Preds.
“This is a different group. We look at the back-to-back. We got three out of a possible four points. If you would’ve said that going into San Jose, which is a tough building to play in, and coming back and meeting a rested Nashville team, we’d have our work cut out for us. That’s a big positive from our standpoint.”
On Friday the Ducks take on the Columbus Blue Jackets (2-2-1) at Honda Center.
