Pedestrian struck, killed on Brookhurst

A PEDESTRIAN crossing Brookhurst Street was fatally injured Tuesday evening when struck by an auto.

A PEDESTRIAN crossing Brookhurst Street in Garden Grove was fatally injured Tuesday evening when struck by an auto.

A 37-year-old man walking across Brookhurst Street in Garden Grove was struck and fatally injured by an automobile Tuesday evening. According to the GGPD, the incident occurred at around 6:49 p.m., south of Bixby Avenue.

Police say that a pedestrian was crossing Brookhurst westward in an area without a crosswalk and was struck by a silver 1999 Izusu Trooper sport utility vehicle driven by a 26-year-old man.

The injured man was given medical aid by Garden Grove paramedics but died of his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorist remained and cooperated with investigators and it doesn’t appear that alcohol or drugs were factors in the accident. Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to call the GGPD’s Traffic Accident Investigation Unit at (714) 741-5704.

On Monday night, a bicyclist and a Garden Grove police patrol vehicle collided on the southbound Harbor Boulevard south of Garden Grove Boulevard.

According to the GGPD, the accident occurred around 7:11 p.m. The cyclist, a 23-year-old man, suffered “moderate injuries” and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

An investigation into the incident is being conducted by the California Highway Patrol.
