The Anaheim Ducks defeated the Los Angeles Kings 4-0 Monday night at Staples Center to square their record at 4-4-2 and rise into third place in the NHL Pacific Division.
Rickard Rakell led the Ducks with a goal and two assists. Also scoring for Anaheim were Antoine Vermette, Ryan Kesler and Joseph Cramarossa. John Gibson was flawless in goal, recording 30 saves en route to his seventh career shutout.
“We were ready to play,” said Ducks head coach Randy Carlyle. “From the beginning, we were able to skate and execute. We found a way to push a couple pucks across the line. The power play scored two goals. That’s the difference in the game.”
The Ducks are back in action Wednesday night hosting the Pittsburgh Penguins (6-2-1) at Honda Center.
