CIF FOOTBALL PAIRINGS INCLUDE LOCALS

Seven local teams will advance to the CIF-SS football playoffs this Friday. In this, the first year of the “competitive equity” format, teams are chosen not necessarily based on league standings, but on the criteria of performance within their division.

The pairings were announced Sunday. All games are set for 7:30 p.m.

In Division 3, Edison will host Newbury Park.

In Division 7, Tustin will host Huntington Beach

In Division 8, Garden Grove will host Laguna Hills

In Division 10, Polytechnic of Pasadena will host Pacifica.

In Division 11, Katella will host Westminster and Rancho Alamitos will host Heritage Christian.

In Division 12, Rancho Mirage will host Los Amigos.
