
EDISON will host San Clemente Saturday at Huntington Beach High in the CIF SoCal Division 1-A playoffs.
Edison High School will have something of a home filed advantage when its football team takes on San Clemente Saturday night at Cap Sheue Field on the Huntington Beach High Schook campus at 7:30 p.m.
The Chargers (13-1) are facing San Clemente (11-3) in a CIF 1-A SoCal regional game. The winner will pay the victor in the NorCal clash between Bakersfield (11-1) and Del Oro (12-2) next week.
Edison is the winner of the CIF-SS Division 3 title. It’s led by Griffin O’Connor, who has passed for 3,229 yards and 34 touchdowns with just six interceptions. On the ground the Chargers rely on Jack Carmichael, who has rushed for 1,026 yards and 12 touchdowns. EHS is on a seven-game win streak and is ranked 63rd in the nation and ninth in California by MaxPreps.com.
San Clemente won the CIF Division 2 crown. The Tritons’ offense is sparked by Jack Sears with 2,256 yards through the air, worth 33 TDs and just two interceptions. Austin Whitsett has rushed for 1,013 yards and three scores. SCHS is rated 13th in California and 124th in the nation.
The two teams have two common opponents – Huntington Beach and La Mirada. Both have beaten HBHS, but Edison defeated LMHS while San Clemente lost to the Matadores.
