The water was bone-chilling cold Saturday night when a 30-year-old Garden Grove woman fell off the Huntington Beach Pier into the water. But the story has a happy ending as she was pulled to safety by two Huntington Beach police officers jumped into the brine and rescued her.

According to the HBPD, around 8:10 p.m. officers were called to the pier about the woman’s plight. Bystanders had thrown her a life-preserver ring, but because of the cold, she was barely able to hold on and barely conscious,

Officers Eric Hill and Zach Pricer stripped off their gear and jumped into the water and pulled her to safety. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment for hypothermia.

According to reports, the woman had accidentally dropped something over the pier railing, and when she reached to retrieve it, fell into the water.
