“La La Land,” a modern musical romance, tied the record Tuesday for most Oscar nominations with 14 as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced its selections.
Nominated for Best Picture were “La La Land,” “Fences, “Hidden Figures,” “Arrival,” “Manchester by the Sea,” “Moonlight,” “Hell or High Water,” “Lion” and “Hacksaw Ridge.” Other films receiving 14 nominations were “Titanic” and “All About Eve.”
Meryl Streep set a new record with her 20th Oscar nomination for her performance in “Florence Foster Jenkins” in the Best Actress category.
Others nominated for Best Actress were Emma Stone (“La La Land”), Natalie Portman (“Jackie”), Ruth Negga (“Loving”) and Isabelle Huppert (“Elle”).
Nominees for Best Actor were Ryan Gosling (“La La Land”), Casey Affleck (“Manchester”), Viggo Mortensen (“Captain Fantastic”), Andrew Garfield (“Hacksaw Ridge”) and Denzel Washington (“Fences”).
