
THE Huntington Beach High baseball team and the Santiago High softball team are ranked atop their divisions in this week’s CIF-SS polls.
Two teams from the Garden Grove-Huntington Beach-Westminster area are ranked at the top of the latest CIF-SS polls released Monday and updated on Tuesday.
In baseball, Huntington Beach is ranked atop Division 1. In softball, Santiago is rated first in Division 6. Here are the other local teams honored:
Softball: Pacifica is seventh in Division 1. Edison received some votes in Division 2. Rancho Alamitos is third in Division 6.
Boys’ tennis: La Quinta is seventh in Division 3.
Boys’ volleyball: In Division 1, Edison is fifth and Huntington Beach ninth. In Division 2, Fountain Valley is 10th. In Division 4, Bolsa Grande is fourth and Garden Grove 8th.
MARINERS EVEN THEIR RECORD
The Pacifica baseball team posted a 3-0 non-league win Monday over Orange High at the Mariner field. The win squared the M’s record at 5-5.
Jovanny Reyes struck out four batters over three innings for Pacifica. Matt Ortiz went 2-for-4, including a single, a double and an RBI.
PHS will next play in the Anaheim Lions tournament, then start Empire League action on April 4 against Kennedy at home.
