A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for Friday for three family members – one of them a former police officer – accused in the 2016 stabbing of a 17-year-old boy in Huntington Beach.
According to the Orange County District Attorney’s office, the three – who will be in court at the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana – are:
- Jessica Roman of Lake Forest;
- Martin Roman of Lake Forest;
- Arthur Roman of Tinley Park, Ill.
Jessica and Martin Roman are a married couple. Martin is Arthur’s brother.
On Feb. 28, 2016, Huntington Beach police were called to the front of the 24 Hour Fitness gym at 303 St. at 4:16 p.m. regarding a stabbing, According to the HBPD, two men and a woman were in a car and got into an argument with two people – the victim and 31-year-old friend – walking by when Arthur Roman allegedly began shouting at the victims.
Police say that Arthur Roman and Martin Roman got out of their car and “aggressively approached” the victims. Martin Roman is accused of pushing the older male and wrapping his arm around his neck, then turning to the youth at stabbing him two to three times in the buttocks.
The three suspects fled in their vehicle but were located by officers and detained. It was discovered that Arthur Roman was a policeman from in Oak Park, Illinois. He’s since been fired from that job.
The stabbing victim was taken to a hospital and released. The three suspects were released on bond.
