Morning fire scorches Burger King eatery

A kitchen fire in a fast food restaurant in Garden Grove Saturday morning caused an estimated $25,000 in damage, according to the Garden Grove Fire Department.

Capt. Thanh Nguyen of the GGFD said the blaze was reported shortly before 8 a.m. at the Burger King in the 12000 block of Brookhurst Street, between Lampson Avenue and Bixby Street.

Firefighters were able to isolate the flames to cooking equipment and ducting and got the fire under control in less than 20 minutes. The damage to the structure was put at $20,000 and $5000 to contents. The Orange County Health Department was called to the scene and the restaurant will be closed until further notice.

There were no known injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
