Firefighting units from Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley and the Orange County Fire Authority knocked down a fire in a townhouse in Huntington Beach Friday night.

According to Capt. Steve Teasdale of the HBFD, the incident was at 2861 Coast Circle, Unit B and was reported at 10:48 p.m. Initially, it was said to be a boat fire in a slip in the harbor, but it was quickly discovered that the blaze was in a residential complex.

Arriving firefighters saw heavy black smoke coming from the third story of a three-story townhome. The smoke and high heat complicated the efforts of firefighters, but the fire was brought under control within 15 minutes. The flames were contained in the one unit and no one was home at the time.

Two families were displaced but there were no injuries. The value of the loss and the cause of the fire are initially unknown. A total of 13 units from the three agencies were involved.
