Need to cool off during the heat wave predicted to hit the Garden Grove area through Wednesday? The H. Louis Lake Senior Center, located at 11300 Stanford Ave., will serve as a public cooling center from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Wednesday.

Goldenwest Street offramp closed on Tuesday
The southbound offramp from Interstate 405 (San Diego Freeway) to Goldenwest Street will be closed on Tuesday, Aug. 29 from 9 a.m. to noon for electrical work to be performed by the California Department of Transportation.

Child dies after leaving soccer game
A 13-year-old boy competing in a soccer game in Westminster on Saturday collapsed shortly after asking to leave the contest, and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
According to published reports, Felipe De La Cruz was playing in a tournament match when he asked to come out of game because he was tired.
After collapsing and falling unconscious, efforts to revive him through CPR were unsuccessful. The cause of his death is under investigation.
