TGIF: “Snowman,” “Cabaret” and festival

THE SNOWMAN” opens this weekend in local cinemas.

Entertaining events and shows of interest to those in the Garden Grove-Huntington Beach-Westminster area this weekend.

MOVIES

Opening this weekend in local cinemas:

  • “Geostorm.” Climate control satellites go haywire and Gerald Butler must save the day in this sci-fi story. Rated PG-13.
  • “The Snowman.” A serial killer taunts police with puzzling cues. Michael Fassbender stars in this R-rated suspense-thriller.
  • “Only the Brave.” Firefighters battle to save their town from a huge forest fire. Rated PG-13. Starring Josh Brolin.
  • “Boo 2! A Medea Halloween. Tyler Perry and crew at a haunted campground. Rated PG-13.

ON STAGE

  • “Cabaret” continues this week at the Gem Theater on Main Street in Garden Grove with performances Thursday through Sunday.

EVENTS

The Korean American International Festival will be held this weekend – Friday through Sunday – in the former Garden Square at 9772 Garden Grove Blvd. in Garden Grove. It will feature music, booths, activities and more. The opening ceremonies will be Friday at the main stage at 6:30 p.m.
