Grove rolls past Rancho for 15th straight

The Garden Grove High boys’ basketball team raced out to a 17-4 first quarter lead then coasted to a 72-50 win over Rancho Alamitos in a Garden Grove League contest Friday night in the Vaquero gymnasium.

The Argonauts (20-1 overall and 4-0 in league) won their 15th straight contest. They are ranked number one in CIF-SS Division 5AAA.

Sebastian Castro led all scorers with 20 points. Rancho (4-16, 0-4) got 16 points from Cross Faletoi.

In the Empire League, Pacifica remained tied for first place in the EL with its 47-26 win over Kennedy. Paolo Zubillaga scored 14 to lead the Mariners (13-6, 4-0 in league). The M’s will face Cypress (16-4) on Tuesday in a battle for the EL lead.
