It was a rainy day for high school girls’ soccer teams from the Garden Grove-Huntington Beach-Westminster area. Both local teams – Pacifica and Westminster – suffered defeats in CIF-SS finals games on Saturday,
Westminster lost 1-0 to South Pasadena at Warren High School in Downey in the Division 5 title contest. Pacifica fell 3-1 to Flintridge Prep in the Division 3 game.
But it’s not all over. Westminster (21-4-3) will advance to the SoCal Regionals next week.
The Mariners finish 21-4-3. They led 1-0 at one point on Alexa Riddle’s goal, but their offense slumped when Riddle was forced to leave the game due to a leg injury.
