Attacker faces 237 years in state prison

A BUENA PARK man will be sentenced in May after being convicted Wednesday of 10 felony charges in attacks woman in Anaheim and Garden Grove in 2014.

A man convicted for his crimes during a five-hour rampage in Anaheim and Garden Grove in January 2014 is facing a maximum possible sentence of 237 years in state prison.

Ulises Omar De La Torre, 36, of Buena Park, was convicted on Wednesday on 10 felony counts, including:

  • attempted murder
  • kidnapping to commit a sex offense
  • torture (two counts)
  • assault with intent to commit a sexual offense (two counts)
  • assault with intent to commit a sexual offense in the commission of first degree burglary
  • first degree burglary
  • assault.

He is scheduled to be sentenced at the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana on May 18.

On January 2014, De La Torre attacked five women in Anaheim and Garden Grove between 5:15 p.m. and 9 p.m. In his crime spree, he stabbed two of them
