Color and community at Spring Festival

HOME DEPOT offered a kids’ craft workshop at the Spring Festival Saturday in Westminster (Orange County Tribune photos).

It’s not Easter yet, but there were a lot of colorful things in bloom Saturday at the annual Spring Festival and Community Resource fair held Saturday at the Civic Center in Westminster.

THE EASTER BUNNY – or, at least, the Bunny’s little cousin – was on hand.

The event, sponsored by the City of Westminster and held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., featured food, entertainment, displays and programs from the city, county and non-profit organizations.

Home Depot held its annual hand-on craft workshops for kids, and vehicles from police to fire to public works were on exhibit for the public to view and – in some cases – enter and explore.

It was all free and included many informational booths on everything from how to save water to offering suggestions about the Westminster Mall remake. The Civic Center is located at 8200 Westminster Blvd. a block west of Goldenwest Street. All the exhibits, food and information boots located in the Civic Center parking lot facing Westminster Boulevard.

FUTURE FARMERS of America from Westminster High School brought a pair of goats. They got 15 minutes of fame in being interviewed by a reporter from the Public Cable Television Authority, which serves Westminster and other area cities.
