Motorcyclist hurt in freeway crash

GARDEN GROVE firefighters rescue motorcyclist trapped after an accident Thursday on the Garden Grove Freeway (GGFD photo).

A motorcyclist riding on the Garden Grove Freeway was hospitalized after a collision left him trapped under a car.

According to Capt. Thanh Nguyen of the Garden Grove Fire Department, the incident took place around 5:15 p.m. Thursday on the freeway near Fairview Street.

A man in his 60s on a motorcycle collided with a car, which resulted in a three-car traffic collision with the cyclist being trapped beneath one of the automobiles. Eastbound lanes of the freeway were shut down.

It took about 15 minutes for Garden Grove firefighters using heavy rescue tools to lift the vehicle off the cyclist.

The man was treated by firefighter paramedics, and taken to a local trauma center where he was listed in serious but stable condition. There were no other injuries reported.
