Garden Grove’s Atlantis Play Center’s temporary closure, originally scheduled for Monday, May 14 through Thursday, May 31, has been extended to Monday, May 14 through Friday, June 15, as phase two of the park renovation is completed. Atlantis Play Center is located at 13630 Atlantis Way, in Garden Grove Park.
Earlier this month, the center experienced a two-week closure as an outdated, 60-foot wooden shade structure covering picnic tables near the front entrance was demolished. During phase two, plans call for the installation of an industry standard, high-quality structure that will provide full-shaded coverage to the area.
Opened in 1963, Atlantis Play Center is an enclosed, 4-acre site that features eight different play areas with fantasy-themed playground equipment, including a 40-foot dragon slide, pirate’s ship, and a maritime splash pad. The play center has been recognized as the best playground in the Orange County Register’s Best of Orange County 2010 and 2013.
