“Take Two” on Mayor Pro Tem Kris Beard’s proposed resolution creating an honorary “West Grove” district goes before Tuesday’s meeting of the Garden Grove City Council.
Beard, who is also the District 1 councilman, has submitted a revised version of the original resolution which drew criticism from some who considered it “divisive.”
The new resolution focuses more on the business aspects of the resolution, stating that “designating the area west of Western Avenue as the West Grove District can facilitate greater economic development in this area for the benefit of the entire city of Garden Grove.”
Also on the agenda is the second reading of the ordinance giving final approval of development of the “rusty skeleton” on Garden Grove Boulevard (near Brookhurst Street) as a mixed-use project primarily devoted to senior citizen housing.
The council will also take up a proposed resolution authorizing city staff to participate in planning by the Association of California Cities–Orange County toward countywide housing for the homeless.
This resolution would only allow staff to participate, without the authority to commit the city to any specific site or allocation of “permanent supportive housing units.”
The council will meet in its chambers in the Community Meeting Center, 11300 Stanford Ave. at 6:30 p.m.
