Man is killed crossing Main & PCH

A MAN WAS killed Saturday night after being struck by a car while he was in the intersection of Main Street and Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach.

UPDATE: The Orange County Coroner’s Office has identified the man killed in Saturday’s traffic accident as Gregory Cobb, 44. The time of death was 9:01 p.m. at UCI Medical Center in Orange.

A man walking across the intersection of Main Street and Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach Saturday night was fatally injured when struck by a sedan.

According to Sgt. Julio Mendez of the Huntington Beach Police Department’s traffic unit, the accident took place at about 7 p.m. Arriving officers found a man in need of medical attention and paramedics were summoned. He was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange where he later died from his injuries.

The man has not yet been identified.

Police say the car which struck him was a black Nissan Altima. The driver, a woman, remained at the scene and cooperated with officers. No arrests were made.

It appears that the pedestrian entered the intersection when struck by the Nissan which was traveling south on PCH. The investigation is still underway and anyone with information about the collision is asked to call the HBPD at (714) 536-5670 or (714) 536-5666.
