Planners OK Sunset Beach hotel … again

A THREE-STORY hotel in Sunset Beach has been approved by the Huntington Beach Planning Commission.

A proposal to build a three-story hotel in the Sunset Beach area has been approved by the Huntington Beach Planning Commission.

At its May 8 meeting, the planners voted 6-0 (with Connie Mandic absent) to approve the 12-unit project at 17145 Pacific Coast Highway, near the southwest corner of PCH and 4th Street, according to Lindsay Ortega, project planner.

It will consist of three- and four-unit bedroom units along with 1,800-square feet of commercial space on ground floor. To proceed with construction, seven parcels will be consolidated into one and an existing car wash demolished.

This is the second time through the planners. Originally approved by the commission, that decision was appealed but approved again. If not appealed to the  city council by Friday, May 18 at 5 p.m., the decision will be final, pending review by the California Coastal Commission.
