A new tenant will be moving into the theater in the Central Library in Huntington Beach. On Monday night, the city council voted 7-0 to approve a lease with Braver Players Theatrical Foundation through Jan. 19, 2020.
The company, with stages plays featuring “kids and teens” will open its run in its new home on July 30 with a production of “Heathers.” The total lease payment is $47,062.50.
The contract is non-exclusive and can be renewed for a two-year period if both parties agree. The theater is located on a lower level of the library, 7111 Talbert Ave., at Goldenwest Street. It seats 319 people.
Also on Monday, the council voted 7-0 to approve an interim ordinance declaring a moratorium on shared mobility devices such as bikes and scooters.
The moratorium comes in the wake of some complaints that these rented devices are often left “haphazardly” in public pathways and sidewalks, and that some users ignore state and local law by not wearing a helmet or buy riding on the sidewalk. City officials want more time to study the issue.
Next meeting for the council is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 6.
