Heat wave coming; some rain Saturday?

HIGH TEMPERATURES are coming to the West Orange County area next week, with rain possible this Saturday (Pexels photo).

A heat wave is coming to West Orange County, with temperatures climbing to the high 90s in some areas by the first part of the new week.

Highs will reach 97 in Garden Grove, 92 in Huntington Beach, 95 in Stanton and 93 in Westminster, according to the National Weather Service.

On Saturday, warming temps in the 80s will also bring a 10 percent chance of rain in all of our cities. Here’s a city-by-city breakdown of expected temperatures through Wednesday, Aug. 8.

  • Garden Grove: Highs of 89 on Saturday, 90 on Sunday, 97 on Monday, 94 on Tuesday and 92 on Wednesday.
  • Huntington Beach: Highs of 80 on Saturday, 82 on Sunday, 92 on Monday, 89 on Tuesday and 87 on Wednesday.
  • Stanton: Highs of 86 on Saturday, 86 on Sunday, 87 on Sunday, 95 on Monday, 92 on Tuesday and 89 on Wednesday.
  • Westminster: Highs of 81 on Saturday, 83 on Sunday, 93 on Monday, 89 on Tuesday and 87 on Wednesday. A 10 percent chance of rain is predicted for Westminster on Sunday.

In Garden Grove, the H. Louis Lake Senior Center will be open as a “public cooling center” from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday. The center is located at 11300 Stanford Ave., across the street from Garden Grove High School.
