
A SUSPECT was arrested Saturday morning in connection with a bank robbery Friday afternoon in Garden Grove.
The suspect in the robbery of a Garden Grove bank Friday afternoon got an education about the reach of social media when he was arrested Saturday morning.
According to the Garden Grove Police Department, the GGPD received a call from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department stating that its deputies had detained the suspect who had been identified on social media.
His family members told police that he had left his home on foot and feared he might be suicidal. Deputies found him at a nearby bridge and took him into custody near the intersection of Alton Parkway and Monarch Avenue.
The suspect has been identified as Miguel “Mike” Casillas, 34, of Lake Forest. He was arrested and booked into Orange County Jail at 6:20 a.m.
He allegedly held up the HSBC bank in Garden Grove Friday afternoon using a message displayed on a cell phone, escaping with $650.
In a statement, the GGPD “wanted to thank the public for the tips received that helped identify and locate the suspect.”
