Hurrah! Halos win to even season mark

REACHING .500 after winning six of eight games is worth celebrating for the Angels as they beat the Rangers 8-1 on Wednesday (Angels photo).

It’s been a long, hard haul, but the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim finally did it. No, it’s nothing which will take them into the playoffs, but the Halos evened their record at 72-72 after defeating the Texas Rangers 8-1 Wednesday night in Anaheim.

Francisco Arcia hit two home runs and had four RBIs while Jose Fernandez added a four-bagger as the Angels won their sixth game in eight starts. Felix Pena pitched five scoreless innings and improved his record to 3-4.

Outstanding performaances were also turned in by Andrelton Simmons (3-for-3 with one run scored and one driven in) and Shohei Ohtani (2-for-3 with one walk and one run scored).

The Angels will try to move over the .500 mark on Thursday when they take on the Seattle Mariners at the Big A.
