Kindergarten and transitional kindergarten students from Oak View Elementary School in Huntington Beach who attended a back-to-school orientation last week with their families received a surprise.

They were welcomed with over 100 backpacks filled with school supplies, thanks to donations from KIWIN’S at Marina and Edison high schools. KIWIN’S is a high school service organization sponsored by Kiwanis International and Key Club International.

Surplus backpacks are being donated to Westmont Elementary School.

“We are so grateful for the ongoing support we receive from our community leaders,” said OVSD Superintendent Carol Hansen.

The OVSD is a K-8 district serving northern Huntington Beach and portions of Fountain Valley Westminster and Midway City.
