Jet Noise panel is on council agenda

THE CREATION OF A Jet Noise Commission is on the agenda for Monday’s meeting of the Huntington Beach City Council.

The creation of a Jet Noise Commission is on the agenda for Monday’s meeting of the Huntington Beach City Council.

Councilmembers Patrick Brenden and Barbara Delgleize requested that the item be brought before the council when it meets at 6 p.m. in its chambers at 2000 Main St. (at Yorktown Avenue).

They are proposing that application guidelines for commission members be crafted for potential members within the next 90 days.

Residents have complained about increasing noise issues with nearby airports, including Long Beach Airport and John Wayne Airport. Issues such as flight paths, scheduling and noise abatement have been raised.

Also on the agenda are:

  • increased investigation of illicit, unlicensed and nuisance businesses from home.
  • approval of the placement of a memorial plaque of recognition for Father Christian Mondor and Pastor Blaine “Sumo” Sato on Tower Zero on the city pier.

The council will meet in a study session at 4 p.m. to discuss best practices and survey results in reference to “shared mobility” such as bicycles and scooters, and a program update on electric vehicle charging stations.
