A fire Saturday night in Garden Grove claimed the lives of two people and did an estimated $400,000 in damage.
According to Capt. Thanh Nguyen of the Garden Grove Fire Department, the blaze at a single-story home in the 8800 block of Chapman Avenue – west of Magnolia Street – was reported just before 8 p.m.
It took nearly 30 firefighters 55 minutes to bring the fire under control. A search of the home revealed the bodies of a male and a female, both of unknown age.
Garden Grove fire investigators were on the scene until 4 a.m. Sunday, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Assistance in fighting the blaze came from Anaheim Fire and Rescue and the Orange County Fire Authority.
