A man is dead after apparently being struck by an automobile Wednesday night in Garden Grove.
According to Lt. Carl Whitney of the GGPD, police were summoned at 7:53 p.m. to the area of Flagstone Avenue and Harbor Boulevard regarding a pedestrian vs. car incident.
The injured man was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange where he died as a result of the collision. The driver of the car initially left the area, according to Lt. Whitney, but returned shortly “after allegedly realizing he hit an unknown object.”
Members of the GGPD Traffic Unit responded to conduct an investigation. The driver of the vehicle was evaluated and performed a field sobriety test, which indicated no signs of impairment.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the collision.
