GG Freeway crash kills two people

TWO PERSONS were killed in a four-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning on the Garden Grove (22) Freeway in Westminster.

Two people were killed in a four-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning on the Garden Grove Freeway near Valley View Street in Westminster.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 33-year-old woman and a 9-year-old girl were fatally injured in the accident at around 1 a.m.  The freeway was closed for over six hours.

The names of the decedents were not released. One of the vehicles was overturned and firefighters extricated a person from the wreckage.

A man at the scene was detained and placed in a CHP cruiser, but he kicked out a window and was restrained by officers.

Windy weather cancels Surf City Splash

The annual Surf City Splash event planned for today (Tuesday) in Huntington Beach has been cancelled due to “high winds and water safety concerns.”

Scheduled was a pancake breakfast this morning from 9-11 a.m. and a dip into the cold Pacific Ocean waters at noon near the municipal pier. The event benefits the International Surfing Museum. It won’t be rescheduled for 2019 and the next Splash will be in 2020, according to Diana Dehm of the ISM.
