A horse is rescued from a dumpster

A HORSE stuck in a dumpster in Huntington Beach was rescued by firefighters (HBFD photo).

How does a horse get stuck in a dumpster? Even more important, how do you get a horse out of a dumpster?

The Huntington Beach Fire Department and the Orange County Fire Authority solved the second part of the mystery on Friday.

At around 2:37 p.m. units of the HBFD were dispatched to a stable in the area of Goldenwest Street and Ellis Avenue in response to a report of the equine stranded in the big blue trash receptable.

The OCFA’s heavy rescue team was summoned, and horse was secured with a belly harness and lifted out of the dumpster with a crane.

It went successfully, according to the HBFD with no injuries to the horse or rescuers.
