Argos, Seahawks move to a showdown

GARDEN GROVE and Ocean View each won on Wednesday, setting up a crucial rematch on Friday for the Golden West League boys’ basketball title.

Ocean View and Garden Grove continued on a collision course for Friday’s showdown for the Golden West League boys’ basketball crown with wins on Wednesday.

The Seahawks (17-8 overall and 7-0 in league) survived a scare, defeating Segerstrom 67-64 in overtime. That kept them a game ahead of the Argonauts (21-3, 6-1), who had an easier time of it, cruising past Western 71-41.

If Garden Grove wins, there will likely be a tie for the title, barring upsets. If Ocean View wins, it can do no worse than a tie for the crown, being ahead by two games with two to play.

Friday’s crucial will be in the OVHS gym. The Hawks prevailed 70-63 earlier in the season at Grove’s gymnasium.
