Just how bad can it get? The Anaheim Ducks are in fast pursuit of some kind of record of futility as they lost again on Tuesday, falling 4-1 to the Canadiens in Toronto.
Ryan Getzlaf got the sole Anaheim goal as his team lost its third straight since the All-Star break– fifth overall – and its 17th in 19th games. With the defeat, the team’s record went to 21-24-9, good for 51 points.
Anaheim was never really in the game, yielding three goals in the first period.
Despite the setback, the Ducks remain tied for fifth in the NHL Pacific Division with the Edmonton Oilers and Arizona Coyotes. Anaheim benefited from losses by both the Oilers and Coyotes Tuesday.
The Ducks will try to bend their losing trend on Thursday when they take on the Ottawa Senators (19-28-5, 43 points) in the Canadian capital.
