EDISON HIGH’S boys’ soccer team advances to the CIF-SS Division 1 semifinals.

One local team survived a scare Wednesday in CIF-SS winter sports playoffs, and one did not.

The Edison High boys’ soccer team defeated Loyola 2-1 in double overtime in a Division 1 quarterfinal. The Chargers (16-5-5) will visit San Clemente (21-2-4) in a semifinal contest on Saturday.

Huntington Beach High’s girls’ basketball team lost a close one Wednesday in a 2-AA quarterfinal in the Oiler gym, falling 37-36 to Roosevelt High of Eastvale.

Bella Serrano scored 13 points to lead the orange and black. HBHS finishes the season with a 24-7 mark.
