Rain is washing out the drought (we hope)

RAIN is expected to continue on and off daily for a week.

Can we officially say that the drought is finally over?

Winter has returned with a wet vengeance this week in West Orange County. Storms moving across the southern California coast are dropping a lot of rain in Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Stanton and Westminster, and precipitation is forecast to continue on and off for about a week.

According to the National Weather Service, rain in West Orange County will continue today (Thursday) through 4 p.m.  It will resume Friday afternoon, then abate to partly cloudy conditions on Saturday.

Showers are expected to sprinkle your already-soaked lawns on Sunday morning. Weather should be clear until Wednesday (Feb. 20) when rain will resume and then clear again on Thursday (Feb. 21) afternoon.

The rain cancelled street sweeping in Huntington Beach and Westminster, and the often-flooded stretch of Magnolia Street in Garden Grove north of Trask Avenue was closed to traffic.
