Final approval was given Tuesday night by the Garden Grove City Council for the construction of a 31-unit townhome project.
The council voted 7-0 in favor of the planned unit development by Melia Homes at 9861 Hill St on a 1.8-acre lot, located west of Brookhurst Street . The new project will displace a 59-bed facility for the developmentally disabled that is slated for closure in May.
It will be built in two- and three story versions.
Also, the council continued to the meeting of April 23 the matter of appointing members to the Measure O Citizens’ Oversight Committee. The application period will also be extended.
The next meeting of the council is set for April 9.
