31-unit project is approved by council

A 31-UNIT townhouse project won final approval from the Garden Grove City Council Tuesday night (Shutterstock).

Final approval was given Tuesday night by the Garden Grove City Council for the construction of a 31-unit townhome project.

The council voted 7-0 in favor of the planned unit development by Melia Homes at 9861 Hill St on a 1.8-acre lot, located west of Brookhurst Street . The new project will displace a 59-bed facility for the developmentally disabled that is slated for closure in May.

It will be built in two- and three story versions.

Also, the council continued to the meeting of April 23 the matter of appointing members to the Measure O Citizens’ Oversight Committee. The application period will also be extended.

The next meeting of the council is set for April 9.
