Video shows a daylight pharmacy heist

SUSPECTS in the daylight robbery of a Garden Grove pharmacy climb over a partition, as shown in a screen grab from a surveillance video (GGPD image).

Surveillance video of a brazen daylight robbery of a Garden Grove pharmacy from April was released to the press and public today (Tuesday).

According to Lt. Carl Whitney of the GGPD, the incident took place on April 10 at the West Med Pharmacy, 8342 Garden Grove Blvd. at 11:18 a.m.  Two male suspects entered the business and threatened a female pharmacist with a gun. They then climbed over a partition on the counter and forced her to lie on the floor.

The two then took about $20,000 worth of prescription medications and cough syrup with codeine, as well as the cash register drawer.

The suspects fled into a brown Kia Soul that was parked directly in front of the business. A third suspect acted as the lookout and getaway driver, police believe.

Pharmacy businesses across Orange and Los Angeles counties have been targeted by different burglary and robbery crews over the past few months. Last weekend, three pharmacies in Garden Grove were burglarized.

The public’s assistance is sought in helping to identify the suspects. Anyone with information about this or other pharmacy burglaries is asked to call the GGPD robbery unit at (714) 741-5837.
