Tyler Skaggs, a right-handed pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels who played on Saturday, was found dead Monday in his hotel room in Southlake, Texas. He was 27.

No foul play is suspected and an investigation is underway.

Skaggs pitched five innings in a losing cause in Anaheim on Saturday. He was in Texas for the start of the Angels’ series against the Texas Rangers. Today’s game will be rescheduled for another date.

He had a 7-7 record in 2019 with a 4.29 ERA. He struck out 78 batters in 79.2 innings.  Across his career he had 28 wins and 38 losses with an ERA of 4.41.

“It is with great sorrow that we report Tyler Skaggs passed away earlier today in Texas,” read a statement released by the Angels. “Tyler has, and always will be, an important part of the Angels family.”
