Blaze in carport hits townhome, 5 cars

A fire in a townhome complex in Huntington Beach late Thursday night and early Friday morning damaged five cars and one housing unit.

According to the Huntington Beach Fire Department, the blaze was reported just before 11:30 p.m. on Brittany Lane, southwest of Slater Avenue and Newland Street. The blaze involved vehicles in the carport area and spread to the townhome above.

Firefighters from the HBFD, Fountain Valley Fire Department and the Orange County Fire Authority combined to have to the fire “knocked down” by 12:16 a.m. Friday. There were no injuries and the cause of the fire remains undetermined.
